Guillaume De Chassy

At the crossroads of jazz and classical music, pianist Guillaume de Chassy has created a poetic universe that places him among the most singular artists of the French musical scene. A melodist and colorist, his style favors sobriety of gesture and beauty of sound. Guillaume de Chassy has collaborated with American and European jazz personalities such as Paul Motian, Andy Sheppard, Mark Murphy, Enrico Rava, Lars Danielsson, Paolo Fresu, André Minvielle, Christophe Marguet, Elise Caron, David Linx, Daniel Yvinec, Emile Parisien, Stéphane Kerecki, etc. At the same time, he has worked with eminent classical musicians: the pianist Brigitte Engerer, the opera singers Natalie Dessay, Laurent Naouri and Karen Vourc’h, and the choirmaster Joël Suhubiette. As a composer, he has written a piano concerto, two cantatas for choir, piano and percussion, and numerous pieces for piano. Guillaume de Chassy performs all over the world in the course of his many projects. Regularly acclaimed by the press, his discography is the reflection of a constantly awakening creativity and a personality that eludes classification. Curious about all artistic forms, he also invests in creations combining text, images and music, notably with the director Amos Gitaï, the actresses Kristin Scott Thomas, Vanessa Redgrave and Katja Riemann.
