In this first recording collaboration, violinist Stéphanie-Marie Degand and conductor Jérémie Rhorer have chosen to record two of Brahms’ great symphonic masterpieces. The dramatic intensity and scope of the First Symphony and the Violin Concerto are an extension of the door opened by Beethoven. Recorded on period instruments during a concert given at the Grand Théâtre de Provence, this album is the first of the Cercle de l’Harmonie on the NoMadMusic label, and Stéphanie-Marie Degand’s third opus. After the success of her recital “So French” with Christie Julien and the complete Bach sonatas with Violaine Cochard, this CD highlights the great versatility of the violinist’s repertoire.
