A fervent supporter of contemporary composition, Geoffroy Jourdain, with his ensemble Les Cris de Paris, has devised this double album as a reflection on the influence of the political and social world on the contemporary musical scene.
Recorded live at the Radio France Présences festival in 2016, the collection creates a conversation between Marco Stroppa’s celebration of graffiti, Mauro Lanza’s carnivalesque “game piece” on the death of a king and Francesconi and Filidei’s lamentations, successors of a rich history of vocal music, from the Renaissance to Monteverdi, expressing the surrender to death.
