Célimène Daudet Plays Ryuichi Sakamoto — For her fifth solo album on NoMadMusic, Célimène Daudet turns her hands to the work of a composer who never chose between worlds: Ryuichi Sakamoto. A brilliant melodist and eclectic musician, Sakamoto masterfully brought together his most diverse influences, from the spare elegance of Satie to the tenderness of Schumann and Chopin, from the chiaroscuro harmonies of Ravel and Debussy to the hypnotic minimalism of Glass and the suspended elegance of Bill Evans’s jazz.

From Solitude to Energy Flow, culminating in the unforgettable theme from Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (the soundtrack to Furyo), Célimène Daudet journeys through this iconic repertoire as one moves through a shared memory, restoring to the solo piano all the evocative power of an inner cinema.
